Training Session For Journalists in Kasur on “News Quality and News Value”

Media Foundation 360 organized a one-day training session on “News Quality and Value” in District Kasur on December 3rd under its project News Lens. The purpose of this training session was to introduce ethics and values of news to the journalists, teach them the importance of a news story, how to cover it and how to make it interesting and effective enough for readers. The training session was attended by local male and female journalists from different national and local newspapers. The training session was held by Mubasher Bukhari, a senior journalist, writer and Media Foundation 360 President and Fatima Ali, another senior journalist and Humphrey fellow.

Trainers used different mode of techniques including multimedia and self evaluating forms to make the session     more practical and effective. Kasur Press Club President Mr Muhammad Ashraf Wahla, who was also present during the session, appreciated the initiative taken by Media Foundation 360. “In my presidential tenure, its for the first time that such an impressive training workshop was organized”. He also added that this training session is helpful for young journalists in understanding what actually journalism is and this will help them improve their skills.

Session concluded on the note that participants will continue to practice news ethics and help train the new professionals in the field. Media Foundation 360 is to hold more training session on various topics in different cities.
